At Linden Heights we believe in helping both friends and neighbors. Linden Heights United Methodist Church is a community of prayer, love and forgiveness committed to leading persons to a living relationship with Jesus Christ and reaching out in acts of compassion and service. We support many missions throughout the community, the country and the world with our time, our treasures, our witness and our talents. These are some that we currently serve.

For more than 50 years Manna House has been providing assistance and support to the homeless, poor,  and needy of Baltimore with services contributing toward their independence and stability. Every fifth Saturday the people of Linden Heights supply, cook and serve three meals for over 200 guests. For more information about Manna House, click here.

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through simple, gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love through Jesus Christ. We fill boxes for boys and girls, ages 2-14 years old.  Items we put in a shoe box are small school supplies, toys, hygiene items, hard candy, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, or toy jewelry. The people of the Linden Heights congregation contribute the items and the Sunday School members fill the boxes. Volunteers also help prepare the shoeboxes for shipment to their final destination (see photo at right).

Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end world hunger and poverty and to care for the Earth.  Heifer links communities and helps bring sustainable agriculture and commerce to areas with a long history of poverty. Our gifts of “shares” of animals and farm equipment provide both food and reliable income, as agricultural products such as milk, eggs and honey can be traded or sold at market. This brings new opportunities for building schools, creating agricultural cooperatives, forming community savings and funding small businesses. Many in the Linden Heights contribution honor friends and family at Christmas with gifts of “shares” of Heifer livestock and supplies.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit Christian housing organization founded on the conviction that everyone should have a decent, safe, affordable place to live. The people of Linden Heights participate with Habitat’s Susquehanna Chapter to help provide housing in our area.

Since 1885 helping Up Mission has been providing hope to the poor and homeless through programs designed to meet their individual physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs. Helping Up is both an overnight shelter and a destination for long-term recovery. Linden Heights works with Helping Up to support this continuing ministry.
